My father told me growing up about his times at Conley Bottom as a child. After many years we finally were able to visit it. The place is huge! I chose to eat my birthday dinner at the Lighthouse Cafe on the dock there. It was a very cool experience! I'm glad I was finally able to go with my parents.
It's got alot of ducks, turtles & gold fish for little ones to feed. My great nephew had so much fun with feeding them. My mother, Alzheimer's patient also had an enjoyable time. One draw back it was reported the owner dumps human feces into the lake, not only from house boats but from dock bathrooms. Yuk.
Great place to spend the day. We went to eat at the cafe and it was spectacular. The view is amazing, you're situated on the water looking out into the lake. You can see all the hosts passing, the forest surrounding the lake and also the houses dotted up and down the shore line. There is indoor and outdoor seating and the boats and pull right up to the dock and sit down at a table. The food is very good and the fried pickles here are out of this world. The price of the food isn't too expensive, but given the accommodations you get just for being here, it more than makes up for any price difference between a similar restaurant. We went as a group of four, with the check split 2/2 with each pair ordering an appetizer, meal, and desert. One group's cost was ~$40 and the other was ~$50, before tip.
Wonderful people, our houseboat was spotless and everything worked as it should. They work very hard to give you excellent service while maintaining a family owned atmosphere! Not corporate at all and will still give you all the amenities that the big guys do!!!
I enjoyed going to this Marina and seeing all the boats and such. We ate at the little diner and the waitress couldn't be more disinterested in our presence there. The food was really subpar and overpriced... We will never go eat here again, even if we will visit the marina again
All in all, it was definitely worth the experience and I recommend eating here at least once for the experience alone. It will keep you coming back I promise.
